Polio Vaccine Contaminated with Unknown Viruses?

I am from the Baby Boomer generation and nearly all of us were given the live virus polio vaccine. Now I've heard it said that there was a virus in that they didn't have the ability to see in those days, but today they say it had a virus that may be the cause of serious diseases in my generation.

Is that true? Could that be? Did they give us something that they weren't sure was safe?

What do I do now?
